A Brief Synopsis

A Brief Synopsis

So, my life has been pretty crazy recently with the year wrapping up.  I have school tomorrow and Tuesday, then finals on Thursday and Friday, and then I am done with the semester!  I have been working on a very large paper for my Politics class -larger even than any of my past project week papers- and that has been a bit stressful.  I know I am putting more work than necessary into it and that really he is just trying to see if we can argue a topic for a while, but I really enjoy this topic and want this essay to be of the highest caliber.  I performed with the choir this evening and last night at the local cathedral (I was playing bass, not singing) and that was a blast!  Highlights for me included Riu riu chiu (this video version is much shorter than our arrangement, but you get the idea), Still, Still, Still (again, this is a very different version.  Ours was acapella and much slower), and Pat-a-Pan.  I played with them for a song called In Dulci Jubilo which was transcribed, edited, and arranged by our very own Dr. Feiszli, so it was a very unique performance.  The entire thing was professionally recorded, so hopefully I can send that to you soon!  I spend the week leading up to Thanksgiving with my family in State Forest State Park (Northern Colorado), but was able to spend Saturday back near home, which was great.

We have made a lot of progress on our battleship project, and we are presenting it in a project fair (in place of a final exam, yay!) on Thursday, which should be great.  I will send pictures when I can.  It is pretty awesome looking, as it should be.  If any of you want the absolute most expensive board game you will get in your life, you can come to me.  Making one at a time instead of mass producing them makes each 2 player set cost about $2600.  Totally insane, but it is pretty cool…

I finally got to try and use a 3D printer, and it did not work too well… I will hopefully be able to try a different one soon… I have quite a few things I would like to be done and since printing is very slow I need to get started as soon as possible.

Geography and BritLit final tomorrow!  Exciting!  If I get a 94% or more on Geography, I think I will get an A in that class.  Definitely if I get a 96%.  Never been so nervous about any test in my life.  I really, really, really do not want a B on my first semester…especially from a social science credit…

On the opposite side of the spectrum, I could just not take my calculus final and still get a B in that class.  Least stressful final by far.  Plus, I am more confident about the material covered in calculus than my ability to make a pb&j sandwich.  Lowest exam score so far is a 98%, and really that was because the instructions were rather vague, not from any lack of knowledge on my part.

Other news…  not much!  Been studying hard and frequently, and been just generally busy with homework!  It looks like I may be taking another class with Dr. Kj next semester, and I don’t know how I feel about that.  On one hand, he is hilarious and just a great, easygoing guy.  On the other hand, I get the feeling he doesn’t have a clue what he is talking about.  He teaches 700s classes on campus, though, and has mentored many of the other teachers here through their PhD programs, so I should have a little more faith, perhaps.  Definitely what we were going over in class this semester was not his strong suite, or perhaps just not his interest.  We will see!  I will be figuring that out for sure tomorrow.

Also, as Christmas grows nearer, I have been listening to some of my favorite Christmas music again!  Over the years, I have added some of my favorites to this playlist, so feel free to listen in if you would like!

I don’t know if I will be continuing these emails over break, as I am mostly just going to be working and hanging out with family and friends (including many of you!).  If any of you are ever wondering what I am up to, though, do not hesitate to ask!  I will start these emails back up next semester!

Merry Christmas! -Christopher
