Awesome Weather!
It has been so nice here! Warm and with blue skies every day! The grass is green again, and I hear birds in the morning when I wake up. Homework also has not been as stressful this week. I was able to play disk golf with Adrian (one of the other guys who was in the Leadership Essentials class through IV last semester) and Amanda on Friday. It was only the 3rd time I have gone, but I had a blast! I have my final session of Chem Lab this coming Tuesday, then it is finished for good! That will open up about 5 hours a week for the last couple weeks, which is such a relief. It looks to me like these last two chapters of Chemistry (lecture) are going to be easier than some of the previous ones, and since the final exam is just over those, not a cumulative final, I think I might be able to pull an ‘A’ out of it. Maybe. I have hope. Calculus is easy as per usual, but we are in a chapter that is way different from anything I have done before, which I really appreciate! I have been assigned my final program in computer science, and have until the last day of class to complete it, though that final day is coming up very soon now!
I had my scholarship audition on Friday, and that went exceedingly well. The audition itself was a little below the level of the practice that came directly before it, but it was still very good (I think). Dr. Feiszli recorded the audition for me, so I will be able to show you all that once I have it. I have high hopes that I will be one of the recipients this year. Katherine and I hopefully will continue to work on the other movements of the piece in the future, and perhaps sometime next year I can put a full recording up. We will just have to see!
Seth and I are going to finish reading The Idiot this week! Hard to believe… I may try to reread it more casually this summer, though, now that have a better translation. I got very, very lost in the other one, and I still feel like I am struggling to figure out what happened back 100 pages ago… Now that I will have a better understanding of the story arc as a whole, I hope everything will make a little more sense to me upon a second reading.
Ryan told me earlier this week that he would not actually be the other RA on the floor with me. Kind of sad for me, but he is getting an internship with Caterpillar over the summer working on their virtual reality project. If all goes well, it will be turning into a full time job, with him working part time on campus for them until he graduates, so he cannot do the RA position as well. The guy who is actually going to be on my floor is from IV, named Josiah. I look forward to working with him, and we are probably going to set up a Bible study for the floor as well!
Jonathon Sanders had his birthday today, and he invited all of IV to join him in his (tiny) on campus apartment for his party. About 20 of us showed up, and we had a great time, despite the cramped conditions. I am just glad more people didn’t show… to get a perspective, though, not including his bedroom/bathroom (which we of course did not enter) his living quarters is only maybe 5 feet longer than my dorm room. And there is a couch and a TV and a piano in that space. +20 people.
I still have a few big hurdles to go before the end of the year, but not too many. My final comp. sci. program has to be made, and I still have another test in Calculus, CSC, Statics, and Physics before my finals. However, everything is looking up for the most part, and I am only really stressed about Statics. I am very stressed about Statics, though…
I hope you are all well! -Christopher
